Sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I spent many hours working with Dave in the Location & Survey Division of Dept of Transportation. My condolences to Rosalie and family.

- Arlo & Barbara White, Farmington, ME

My sympathies to the family. I agree with Brian Casey - Dave was a good man. I also have a story - when I was a young resident engineer, I think Ed Leary delighted in giving a young guy the oldest, crappiest equipment he could find up in the loft. The 50 foot chain had about 6 welds and was 48 feet long. I turned it in later, hoping for something a little better - lo and behold, Dave showed up with a decent transit, a new 100 foot chain, and a new rod. "Is this stuff OK?", he asked. As far as I was concerned, Dave was the man!

- Buddy Spaulding, Palermo,

Aunt Rosalie, Ann, David, Stephen and families, Thoughts of you all keep coming to me which prompt me to lift you up to the Comforter, that He bring you joy in your sorrow, laughter with your tears, and absolute confidence in your future reunion in eternity even as the separation feels so acutely real. I wish I could be there to offer support.

- Kathy Ober, Ellsworth, Maine,

To Ann and family - my sincere condolences to you all. Dave was a good man and in his quiet and professional way made major contributions to Maine's highway system especially in the location and design of the Interstate Highways, the greatest public works program of this country. In sympathy, Dick Coleman

- Dick Coleman, Augusta, me.

We are so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. He was a good man. Brian worked for him for many years at Maine DOT. Brian has one story to share... While I and another co-worker were looking at a plan of a new seating arrangement for the survey office, I pointed to Dave' s office and said, "That's where the Big Cheese is going to be." Little did I know that Dave had walked up behind us and was looking over our shoulders and heard what I said! Man, was I embarrassed. But, I think Dave got a good chuckle out of it. Our condolences to Dave's family.

- Brian and Alice Casey, Windsor, Maine

Very sad to hear of Dave's passing, my condolences to the family. On my first day in the MaineDOT Office, Dave said 'Welcome to the Puzzle Palace". Dave left a great legacy here at MaineDOT, especially as Engineer of Location and Survey Division in the Bureau of Highways. I was pleased to be one of the photographers at his retirement party, and I think of him often as I am catalogging many old projects that he had touched.

- Harry Nelson, Newport, ME

My sincere condolences to the Ober Family on the passing of your dear loved one. May Jehovah God, the God of comfort grant you his peace while you await the fulfillment of his promise at John 5:28(to resurrect those who have been asleep in death. May fond memories of David linger in your hearts and bring you peace in the days to come.

I was saddened to read of the loss of your loved one. When we lose our loved one in death it is the most difficult time in our life. However, there is loving comfort in Psalms 55:22 to “throw your burden on God and he will sustain you..” Yes, no matter what you are facing God is there to help you get through it. May you continue to have the love and support from family and friends. I sincerely hope that this Bible message brings you a measure of comfort during this difficult time.
